Dial-Up Networking is a piece of software which allows Internet connectivity for Windows 95/98/ME. On most systems, it
should be installed by default. Occasionally this is not the case, and it is necessary to install it manually. Moreover,
some connection troubles can be solved by re-installing this component. Install Dial-Up Networking |
Most systems will have the windows dialler options installed. To check: |
|
| Double-click on My Computer (usually in the top left corner of your screen) |
If you do have the dialler installed, then skip to Step 2. otherwise:
|
|
| Click on your 'Start' menu (usually bottom left) |
| Go up to 'Settings' |
| Double-click on 'Add/Remove Programs' |
| Click on 'Windows Setup' |
|
You should now see a list of all the windows components installed on your machine. If you are installing Windows 95 from floppy disks (or from some of the older Windows 95 upgrades) then you may not have support for the Windows 95 dialler.
If you complete the steps below and Dial-Up Networking still does not appear, you will need to drop your computer in to a computer shop to have it installed. |
|
You now need to select some of the components in the communications section: |
|
| Select 'Communications' (single left-click) |
| Click on the 'Details' button |
| Put a tick in the 'Dial-up Networking' box |
| Click on 'OK' |
| Click on 'OK' again |
|
This should close down this section and prompt you for the Windows 95/98 CD/disk(s). After this is done you may be prompted to restart your machine. After completing this section, you will need to create the ISP Doctor dial-up connection. |
