If you are using Mac OS 8 or 9, you may need to use a 3rd-party dialer in order to connect to ISPDr instead of the included
Remote Access control panel. One of the best 3rd-party dialers available is FreePPP.
Please note: this process will require you to reboot your computer, so it is advisable to print the instructions below before continuing.
 Download FreePPP and extract it |
| Double-click on the installer file |
| Follow the on-screen prompts to install the application |
| The computer will reboot. When it has finished rebooting, click on the FreePPP icon in the top bar, and click "Open FreePPP Setup" |

| Click on the Using menu, and choose New modem... |
|  |
|
|
|
| Give the modem a name (e.g. "Apple Modem") in the Modem config name field |
| Make sure the Port Speed is set to 57600 bps |
| Leave Flow Control as "CTS & RTS (DTR)", and Dial Type as "Tone" |
| Change the Modem init string settings dot to "AutoDetect init string" |
| Click OK |

| The Using field on the main FreePPP window should now read "Apple Modem". If it doesn't, change it. |
| Click on Connect To, and choose "New account..." |
|  |
|
|
|
| In the Account name field, type "ispdr" |
| Make sure the Connect pull-down menu is set to "Directly" |
| Type your username and password in the fields below |
|  |
|
|
|
| Click on the "Dialup" tab |
| In the Phone number field under Main number, type "0198331627". Do not fill in anything else on this page. |

|
|
|
| Click on the Options tab |
| In Primary DNS, type "203.33.168.2" |
| In Secondary DNS, type "203.33.168.3" |
| Tick Configure OT TCP/IP for this Account |
| Leave IP address as "Assigned by PPP server" |
|  |
|
|
|
| Click OK. FreePPP will give you a warning about not entering an area code, click "Yes" |
| Close the FreePPP window |
|
|
| Click on the Apple menu, go down to Control Panel, and across to "TCP/IP" |
| Make sure Connect via: is set to "FreePPP" |
| Configure should be set to "Using PPP Server", and the Name server addr and Search domains fields should already be filled out |
| Close the TCP/IP control panel. If it asks you to save the changes, click Yes |

| Congratulations! You have now created a dial-up connection with FreePPP. It should connect automatically when
you start your Web browser / email program. However, if you want to make a connection manually - or disconnect: |
