Main >> Support >> Configuring Windows 9x Feedback

Below are instructions on how to set up your ISP Doctor connection if your computer is running Windows 95 or Windows 98. Please print this page and keep it in a safe place - if you ever format your machine this page will get you back online in minutes!

Installing the connection

Double-Click on 'My Computer'
Double-Click on 'Dial-Up Networking' (Windows ME users will need to go into Control Panel first)
Double-Click on 'Make New Connection'

This will open up a Windows Dialler Wizard. When the window appears:

Delete 'My Connection' (the first box on the first screen) and type in: ISPDR
The second box shows you which modem to use (it should automatically select your default modem)
Click on 'Next'
Remove any numbers from the 'Area Code' section
Type the dial-in number (0198331627) into the 'Telephone Number' section (excluding the area code!)
Click Next
Click Finish

Right-Click on 'ISPDR' then go down to properties and left-click.
This will open up a properties window for the ISP Doctor dial-up
Make sure 'Use Area Code and Country before dialling' is NOT ticked.
Click on the 'Server Type' tab at the top of the window.
'Type of Dial-up server:' should be set to: 'PPP: Windows 95, Windows NT 3.5, Internet'

In the 'Advanced options' section (on the same screen) make sure:

The 'Log on to network' option is NOT ticked
The 'Enable Software Compression' option IS ticked.
The 'Require encrypted password' option is NOT ticked.

In the 'Allowed network protocols' section (on the same screen) make sure:

The 'NetBEUI' option is NOT ticked
The 'IPX/SPX Compatible' option is NOT ticked
Click OK. You are finished!
